If the Doctor thinks it is appropriate, you will be issued with repeat prescriptions.
We now accept requests for routine prescriptions on the telephone between 9 am – 11 am and 4 pm – 5.15 pm.
The Practice repeat prescriptions are computerised therefore, when you require a repeat prescription please bring the computerised slip to the surgery ticking the items required.
You can request your prescriptions on line by clicking on the following link: https://www.patientaccess.com/
You will need to obtain an ID number from the surgery to use this service (it will be the same one for on line appointments). Please see the Receptionist for more details.
Do not request items you do not need. Well over one million pounds of unused medicine is wasted in Sunderland each year.
We take two working days to process each prescription (excluding weekends) so please allow ample time for renewal.
Alternatively, you may post the slip with a stamped addressed envelope and we will send the prescription to you. You should allow at least five working days for this, as we have no control over the Royal Mail.
All patients who receive regular repeat Prescriptions need to have an annual medication review with either a doctor or a nurse.
If you are on long term medication you may be able to get it directly from your Pharmacy each month i.e. the doctor can issue 6 months prescriptions in advance to the Pharmacy, provided there are no regular changes to your medication.
Please ask the Receptionist for further details.
If you pay for your prescriptions and need more than 3 prescription items in 3 months or 14 in 12 months, you could save money by buying a Prescription Pre-payment Certificate (PPC)
